Trilby was involved in creating the 'Driving Your Life' CD-ROM to make the formal parts of the course more accessible and to find ways of engaging the young people in a learning setting. We also created the website for the programme which acted as the central point of contact for the many projects involved around the city and across Europe, and is the public face of the web design work by the students. Trilby’s role also included Telematics Support - a set of skill enhancement, training and project visits designed to build the capacity within local organisations to exploit the potential of new technology in work with young people specifically and work around education and social development in general. We also coordinated, designed and produced the set of Practice Guides which resulted from the programme.
The Birmingham Youthstart project has stimulated many other developments in the city. We are working with several organisations to create long term new technology projects, and some of the Youthstart participants are working with the Sexual Health team from the Springfields Centre for Health Promotion on the web information project - Running the Risk.
Youthstart PLUS is the next generation of this successful programme and Trilby has developed online resources to support this work.
