Join Distinguished Apple Educator Neil Emery, as he discusses his recent trip to the Ecuadorian Amazon rain forest.

Come and join our very own Neil Emery from Trilby and hear how he travelled to the Ecuadorian Amazon Rain Forest, armed with 16 iPads to engage with pupils from schools in 3 different communities. Working in partnership with 4 UK schools plus project coordinators and guides in Ecuador, Neil spent 3 weeks inspiring pupils to use iPads to enhance their learning.

Amazonian pupils were given the challenge to create eBooks using iPads and the popular education app ‘Book Creator’ and then share them with each other as well as the partner schools in the UK.  A total of 40 eBooks were created in 3 schools, each showing:

  • Who I am
  • Where I live
  • My favourite animal
  • My favourite bird
  • My favourite story/tale

These pupils had previously only come across tablets in their communities to watch films or access the internet, never in an educational capacity. Neil will show you how Apple technology was utilised to encourage and motivate learning in these Amazonian schools.
