COOL Tools the Computer Operated Observation Laboratory is a collection of tools to engage and consult with people.
It is based around some early kiosk development work with an electronic questionnaire and information gathering device. It was felt that a paper based questionnaire was not appropriate for asking questions of young people so we devised a computer based questionnaire which can be customised to ask a series of questions and record the responses.
Sandwell MBC has successfully used COOL on a number of occasions, and have had very positive responses. A version of COOL was used in the YardleyLIVE project and has since been adopted by Birmingham Children's Fund, Suffolk Children's Fund, Dudley MBC and is frequently hired out by other groups.
