Dudley MBC directorate of Educatin and Lifelong Learning secured funding through the New Opportunities Fund for a programme of 'out of school hours' activities aimed at supporting learning through Breakfast Clubs, Lunchtime Clubs and Saturday Clubs. To support this four year programme we set up a suite of sites.
The
Success For All site aims to provide information about the programme to parents and others who are interested in the work, to document the projects involved and to monitor and evaluate the progress of the scheme. The
Kids Mag.net site aims to provide a space on the Internet for young people in Dudley to engage with the
Success for All programme in new and imaginative ways.
StaffMag.Net is the parallel site for project organisers and managers of the programme. This helps schools to plan and deliver their activities and provides a sophisticated level of monitoring and documentation.
The KidsMag.net site offers students opportunities to write reports about the School Clubs they are involved in and to submit original artwork which others can use as eCards. The site has Topical Polls and Questionnaires to collect young people's opinions and ideas and there are games to play that have a social meaning. In 2001 KidsMag.net was extended from the original 78 schools in the Success for All programme and is now open to any school student in the borough. There were more than 3800 students using the site in February 2002.
Our work in Dudley also includes a West Midlands Arts funded audit into digital media in the arts classroom on Artform and the Learning Express Summer School which piloted our MOOSE project management and web workshop package.
