Running the Risk
A pilot website developed in partnership with workers from the sexual health unit at Springfields Centre for Health Promotion, Birmingham NHS Trust.
Aimed at young men, the site uses animations, games, sound and interactivity to create an inviting and attractive environment where sexual health and related issues can be discussed and learnt about. Designed to be in constant development and improvement, the prototype site was publicly launched at the Working With Young Men conference in Birmingham in March 2000 organised by the Health Aducation Authority's Young Peoples Health Network.
The site uses an animated town, Riskville, where each building holds different sorts of activities and information. In the Feedback room, for example, Dr. Know answers ALL your questions. In the Quickies building a set of quick quizzes puts data directly into a database, allowing us to measure the attitudes and awareness levels of our target audience.
