Positive Diversity
Even now, in the 21st century, there is still a great need for us all to learn the valuable contributions that migrants into Europe make to our societies. We believe that different cultures should be celebrated and strengthened where they form an integral part of a community and where they make a positive contribution to that communities sense of itself. We also think that the rich variety of cultures should be nurtured for their differences and that we should avoid the pressure of the 'melting pot' especially under the new influences of globalisation and 'coke-cola-isation'.
Positive Diversity will be a website that celebrates cultural pluralism and its benefits in the United Kingdom and the European Community. Made as part of our capacity building educational work with 'not for profit' organisations we hope this online resource will have practical uses beyond Europe.
This project will form the main part of our international work over the next few years and was the model we took to the Rockefeller Foundation's International meeting in Milan in May 2001.
