Mediaonics Fantasia

For two weeks in October 2004 The Ruskin Centre hosted Staff and Students from the Halesowen Education Consortium and Industry Partners to create The Garden Of Imaginary Delights, a Mediaonics Fantasia installation on a large scale with influences from Hawkstone Park and Follies.
In just 8 days the installation was constructed, developed and rehearsed, opening to invited guests on the 20th October 2004 then to schools and colleges over the following two days. Visitors were treated to a variety of performances and installations to stimulate the senses and spark the imagination.
More than 200 people came to the event and they ranged from youngsters to senior citizens and a scattering of professions and backgrounds. One day we had 5 people turn up because they'd seen it in the newspaper and just had to come along to see what it was about. They were enthralled.
Now we begin the task of analysing the event in terms of the aims and objectives although in a way the hard work begins now as we put it all together as a CD-ROM, DVD or whatever product we come up with for the Showcase, the final documentation and promotional product which will portray the achievements of the Trilby led aspects of the 'New Media Learning With Industry' programme.
