Loadin' the ROM
An alternative approach to the presentation of careers topics. The package is aimed at young people who are approaching the worlds of work and training and are looking to develop an understanding of the multitude of issues relating to the workplace.

It is targeted specifically at school leavers and can be used in a variety of settings such as schools, careers and youth groups.

Financed by Newtown and South Aston City Challenge, this CD-ROM was completed in 1998 after detailed Action Research.

The CD is organised as 6 worlds where there are different activities -

  • The World of You is around developing personal qualities;
  • The World of Work and Training focusses on career options;
  • The World of Money helps develop an understanding about wages and related issues;
  • The World of Survival looks at managing without a full-time job:
  • The World of Rights explains health & safety, equal ops and employment rights.;
  • The Bigger World covers Trade Unions, support agencies and work in Europe.
