Delroy Williams "31 years young, born in 'sarf' London of strict pentecostal parents whose liberal use of "de rod" rather than "spwoile de childe" ethics and "nuh mix with de ungodly" childhood screening backfired. Rebelled at school, ending up with minimal qualifications and spending the latter years of my teens ramping at various colleges, being a soundbwoy and redistributing household wealth." Now an arts
administrator Delroy has performed his poetry at many London
venues and events. His work has been commended in several
competitions and he was a winner of the 1995 Dragonheart
Press poetry competition. His work is published by the
University of North London and in the anthology 'Mirror
Images'. also to be published in the forthcoming anthology

Muggers!
Heard the one about the Black Geezer that came over ln '59?
Did twelve till twelve
two Till ten
ten till two
six till six
and
six till six
till they made 'im redundant
Now ln '96 age 66, still no 9 till 5
instead, he does four till six
cleaning offices bogs before, during and, after the worlers have left
for ninety six smackers a week
Mugged! some ah'we ah cuss
Muggers! 'adders ah fus
Condemn who? I ask, Condemn who?
Stepping stones to consciousness
1.
That of the three wise kings
Sphinx nestling in their wings
the Great true knowledge brings
should be of no surprise
to those of open eyes
this stone invoice of glory
now telling us itstory
confirming ourstory
for Kamit was you'll find
peopled with our kind
treasured with minds
tuned into the divine
til under attack
from those of certain lack
we lost truth of fact
that they indeed were black
under slavery
our gods became a mystery
shrouded in veil of christianity
no disrespect to christ
his teachings paid the price
of roman avarice
and european greed
fuelled by urgent need
to calm those they could no longer feed
but Maat balances her scales
in time without a fail
hence we are back to origin religions
to overcome destructive divisions
created by those who lack the vision
2.
Budhism
taoism
hinduism
shamanism
Animism
Five branches of the tree
of true divinity
unity
of all
before the fall
into racist, sexist squall
rooted in the love
as deep as the sky above
the black madonna
in whose honour
we built stone scrolls
testaments to wisdom of old
pinacle of first with foothold
upon this earth
through divined birth
no static hearse
but crib of faithful nurse
to all of spiritual thirst
Brother to Brother
Brother to Brother
when I look into your eyes
I will you to have a revolution of love
afeeling of kindness and joy towards me
igniting within all the (com)passion
desired of an other brother
all the love I deserve of me to me
give me
and I will to you
a revolutionary love
an evolution beyond our fears
of being seen to be a lesser man
Open your heart
and yield to mine
open your mind
I'm willing to(o) disregard all
questions of who or what seems to be
outer differences glaring so bright
yet innersight instantly
recognises our similarity
Brother to Brother
give me your arms
disarm my fears
release all cares
Love me
as you would love YourSelf
Together we'll dance
this revolution of love
this revolution of love
this revolution of love
